Joanna Tarnawska

Joanna Tarnawska (she/her) is an animist, folk practitioner and psychologist based in the mountains of Lower Silesia, Poland. Her approach is rooted in and informed by living bioregional traditions and lore, historical craft derived from the early modern period, as well as anthropological and ethnographic studies of pre- and post-christian traditions of the West Slavs - bridging the ancient and the early modern through animism and folkloric witchcraft. Joanna is the author of numerous articles published in Femme Occulte magazine, where she continues to write about Slavic folklore, myth and magic. Polish Folk Witch is Joanna's ongoing online project, aimed at educating the Slavic diaspora, promoting Polish culture, teaching courses and facilitating group studies on a broad variety of subjects pertaining to Polish folk magic, animism and traditional folkloric witchcraft.
