Do you have an idea for a book or deck?
Check out our submission requirements below.
Let’s work together! Crossed Crow is open for submissions year-round. If you have an idea for a book or card deck, check out our submission requirements below.
We cannot open links to submissions—whether that is iCloud, DropBox, Google Drive, or another format—so please send all materials as Word documents or PDFs; if you send a link to an external page, we will not be able to assess your work. Under no circumstances will Crossed Crow Books consider any submission for a book or deck generated by AI. Any works that include AI generated assets will be automatically rejected.
Please send your manuscript to submissions@crossedcrowbooks.com. We aspire to review all manuscripts within four weeks of submission.
Book Submission Guidelines:
Crossed Crow Books is committed to publishing high-quality occult titles that inspire readers and enrich their spiritual practices. We aim to uplift emerging and well-established authors alike, with a particular fondness for under-represented witches and writers. While we publish both nonfiction and fiction, our specialty is nonfiction related to witchcraft, traditional and ritual magic, paganism, divination, the occult, and folklore. Fiction submissions must be strongly rooted in real magical practices and/or folklore to be considered.
An agent is not necessary to submit to Crossed Crow Books, and we’ll gladly consider both completed manuscripts and proposals. Whether this is your first book or your thirty-first, we are excited to engage with your work.
If you have completed a manuscript, please attach it as a Word document or PDF to your email. If you are submitting a proposal, please send us a Table of Contents, 1-2 sample chapters, and a brief summary of your project with an estimated final word count. Manuscripts should be set in a double-spaced 12-point font with 1” margins.
Included images should be at least 300 dpi. PDF and PNG files are preferred, but high resolution JPGs are also acceptable. Please note approximately how many images you anticipate having in the manuscript and if images are to be sourced by you, provided by us, or public domain/fair use.
Tarot & Oracle Deck Submission Guidelines:
We also publish tarot and oracle decks intended for divination and magical use. In particular, we are interested in decks that provide unique perspectives, especially those based in folklore, witchcraft, and nature; art-forward decks; and fresh interpretations of classic images; pop culture decks (such as film, game, and novel reimaginings) may not be a great fit. No matter the subject, clear artistic vision is a must.
We welcome either entire decks or proposals for consideration, whether you are agented or flying solo.
If your submission is a proposal, please include up to 10 sample cards and descriptions, a summary of your project, and how you intend to source the artwork/imagery for your deck. These samples should provide an accurate representation of the deck’s art style, scope, and subject matter. For tarot decks that deviate from or expand upon the Rider-Waite system, please provide a list of all cards you anticipate including in the deck. Guidebooks and proposals should be included in manuscript format: a Word document or PDF with text in double-spaced, 12-point font with 1” margins.
Image samples should be at least 300 dpi and in CMYK if possible. PDF and PNG files are preferred, but high resolution JPGs are also acceptable. While we are able to scale cards to any size, it is preferable that artwork adheres to the standard deck proportions of 2.75 x 4.75 inches, including any border or a ¼ inch image bleed. Remember that it is your responsibility to acquire the appropriate permissions if using artwork created by others.
